Ani, North-east Turkey

As my family and I left the ancient site of Ani, in Turkish Anatolia, we were met with yet more ancient structures. This remnant archway, just on the outskirts of the Medieval Armenian city, almost has the appearance of one of the Celtic menhirs or dolmens that scatter the European landscape. The impression is accentuated by the silhouetted nature of the image, set against gentle rolling hills.
