Ani, North-east Turkey
Another image of St. Gregory's church, part of the historic city-complex of Ani. Here, the angular lines of the church are framed by the far more gentle curves of the surrounding hills and mounds. Ani used to be a thriving Armenian city in the 1st and 2nd Centuries. Now it remains as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as continued efforts to preserve and restore it are overseen by the Turkish government.
