Ani, North-east Turkey

This is the first in a series of 8 photos featuring the ruined churches of Ani; an historic site in the Turkish province of Kars which, was originally a major city in Ancient Armenia. I had heard about the site from a friend whilst living in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. After researching the site and seeing the photographic potential of the various ruins, I packed my family into the car and drove the 400km to the site. Here we see St. Gregory's church, on of the most intact structures on the site, next to the more recent, but less intact, Church of the Apostles.
