Danan'ombe Monument, Zimbabwe

After the decline of Great Zimbabwe in the late 15th Century, regional power moved west to the Torwa state, with it's capital at Khame (a UNESCO world heritage site). Danan'ombe was an important town. Khame was sacked in 1693 and Danan'ombe became the regional capital (of the Rozvi state) until its own demise in the 1830s.
